Location

Villa La Romarine is located 3km from the medieval market town of Lorgues and close to Le Thoronet, renowned for its famous Cistercian Abbey.

The nearest airports are Nice (1 hour away by car), Marseille (1,5 hours away) and Toulon/Hyères (just under 1 hour away). The nearest TGV train stations are Les Arcs (just 20 minutes away) and Aix-en-Provence (45 minutes away). The house is just 20 minutes from the A8-motorway, giving easy acces to the surrounding region and the coast, with the nearest beaches about 45 minutes away.

Lorgues, at 3km from the house, has a Casino supermarket and an Intermarché (with gasstation). In the center you will find a small selection of shops , including a pharmacy, a delicatessen-shop, a small bookshop, several bakeries, a halal butcher and quite a few cafés and restaurants. Local markets

The market in Lorgues on Tuesday morning is one of the largest of the area. You will find a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, local cheeses and saucissons, honey, olive oil, vinegar, spices... Also Provençal tablecloths, curtains, bath- and bedlinnen can be found here.

Hiking is possible from the house, walking-maps are available.

Biking and mountainbiking through the vineyards and woods is splendid.

Kajak can be done on the lake of Carcès and on the Argens.

The famous Gorges du Verdon are only 45 minutes away. A booklet with 26 walks in this region is available. You can also mountaibike kajak, waterbike, swim, even climb.

Beaches and the sea are only an hour away.

Côtes de Provence

Take a tour of the vineyards of the Côtes de Provence, known mostly for their fine rosé wines. A lot of winechateaux are worth to visit: chateau de Martinette, chateau Crostes, chateau de Gavaisson, chateau de Bernes...
